Patient resources

Below are the post operative guidelines that Mr Jeffery uses as well as some patient information resources.

You make have been directed towards  these by your surgeon or your physiotherapist.

Post-operative guidelines

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Reconstruction

The ACL is commonly injured in sports that involve twisting. Reconstruction aims to stabilise the knee and reduce future arthritis.

Patella Tendon Advancement (PTA)

Medial Patellofemoral Ligament (MPFL) reconstruction

Tibial Tubercle Osteotomy (TTO)

The patella tendon can be advanced to increase the contact area of the patellofemoral joint for stabilisation and/or pain reduction.

The MPFL is injured when a kneecap dislocates and can be reconstructed to stabilise the patellofemoral joint.

A high riding kneecap (patella alta) can contribute to pain and instability. A TTO moves the kneecap down to reduce this.

MPFL + TTO

An MPFL reconstruction and a TTO are often done in combination to address multiple factors that cause instability.

MPFL + PTA

An MPFL reconstruction and a PTA are done in younger patients who still have significant growth remaining.
